CONFINED SPACE AWARENESS LEVEL 1 Training

If Confined Space Entry is a task conducted at your company, effective work control arrangements along with proven emergency arrangements for rescue  must be implemented in accordance to the Confined Space Regulations 1997, in order to ensure the safety of those personnel entering for a specific task. 

You have two options:

  1. Provide the equipment required along with effective training to allow employees to become competent to enter and conduct rescue from a confined space as  per the risks and work activities on site.
  2. Bring in a third party service provider to provide Confined Space Standby Rescue Services to save money in purchasing equipment and employee training.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course taking into account the Confined Space Regulations 1997, along with the hazards associated with working in confined spaces, allows employees to follow and implement the required procedures and emergency arrangements, this includes content from the very definition of a confined space, permit to work, safe systems of work and dealing with emergencies.

The course, a blend of theoretical and practical training allows course Students with the required skills necessary in order to operate atmospheric testing equipment, full body harnesses, inertia reel rescue winches and associated equipment. The course also includes the role of the Confined Space Trained Attendant.

As an employer, it is your legal responsibility to protect any employees whose role requires them to work in confined spaces. This includes carrying out a proper risk assessment and ensuring that appropriate arrangements including safe systems of work are in place to safeguard entrants. Likewise, employees are responsible for ensuring that all measures and procedures are appropriately adhered to when working in a confined space.

With over three decades of industrial confined space experience and credibility, EPS are very well placed to deliver this Level 1 Confined Space Awareness training to those who may manage low risk confined space operations or employees required to enter low risk confined spaces undertaking inspection and maintenance.

This one day course is an excellent introductory training course for those new to confined space working or likewise in need of a refresher on safe working practices and legislative compliance.

The training carried out by competent person(s) with suitable and sufficient knowledge along with practical confined space entry and rescue experience.

This one day course delivered on your site by means of our custom built confined space mobile training simulator.

Duration

Standard one day course, however can be customer specific fully dependant upon site operations and specified risks.

Target Group

This course is designed for personnel working in and management of safe entry into low risk confined spaces with adequate natural or mechanical ventilation.

Who Should Attend

Employees who may be required to work in, support or manage confined space work activities including Supervisors, Managers and confined space Trained Attendants.

Course Assessments

Students must pass both theoretical and continual practical assessments to complete the course against specific criteria which can incorporate customer / site specific requirements.

TRAINING COMPONENTS & ELEMENTS

Element 1.
Theory of Confined Space legislation including safe working practices, duties and responsibilities.
Element 2.
Permit to work, Safe systems of work.
Element 3.
Trained Attendant duties.
Element 4.
Confined Space equipment types, description and component parts, functionality and selection of confined space entry equipment.
Element 5.
Practical use of confined space entry and rescue equipment pre use checks, wearing, fitting and operation.
Element 6.
Emergency arrangements including rescue types and planning.
Element 7.
Practical safe entry into low risk confined spaces.
Element 8.
Site specific policies and procedures.

Pre Requisites

Nominated course students should:

  • Having completed an occupational medical examination and physical fitness assessment and deemed medically fit prior to attending the Confined Space Awareness course.
  • Be proficient in the English language including reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Posses reasonable English language communication skills.
  • Students must be physically able to carry out the practical skills required to meet the assessment criteria.

Certification

All Students that complete the course will receive a certificate of Completion.
