EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK (EFAW) TRAINING
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide suitable first aid equipment, facilities and trained personnel so that immediate medical assistance can be given to persons if they are injured or become ill at work.
Based upon a workplace assessment of first aid and medical cover needs, the one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) provides an foundation level for low risk workplaces.
EFAW training enables a First Aider to give emergency First Aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill whilst at work.
The training carried out by EPS as an accredited organisation delivered by competent person(s) with suitable and sufficient knowledge and training along with practical medical intervention experience.
The course, a blend of theoretical and practical use of first aid equipment, allows course Students the confidence to provide foundation medical care associated with typical workplace activities.
The Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW) course is designed to give Employees the knowledge and skills they need to handle a variety of work related emergencies including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), minor cuts, grazes, splinters, burns, choking, shock, wounds and bleeding, fractures, strokes, heart attacks and how to treat unconscious persons.
Standard one day course, as per accreditation third party approved course and content.
Target Group
Based upon the requirements of your First Aid risk assessment whereby First Aiders with foundation skills have been deemed suitable for smaller, low risk working environments, such as shops and offices covering foundation adult First Aid protocols.
A high risk workplace would typically include construction, manufacturing and packaging, chemical industry, transportation and maintenance sectors will benefit from First Aid at Work (FAW) three day training.
Who Should Attend
Employees who have been nominated to administer adult Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
Course Assessments
Students must pass both theoretical and continual practical assessments to complete the course against specific criteria as set by the accreditation awarding authority.
TRAINING COMPONENTS & ELEMENTS
Pre Requisites
Nominated course students should:
- Be proficient in the English language including reading, writing and numeracy.
- Posses reasonable English language communication skills.
- Students must be physically able to carry out the practical skills required to meet the assessment criteria.
Certification
Successful Students will receive a certificate of Completion as issued by the third party accreditation awarding authority.
First Aid certificates that are issued under the accreditation awarding authority are recognised, acknowledged and accepted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
