Loss of Containment Spill control Level 1 Training

COURSE OVERVIEW

Chemical Spill Response Training is designed to increase awareness of Hazardous Materials in the workplace and enable site employees to safely react to spills on site.

The Chemical Spill Control Level 1 Course has been created to support the general response to small chemical spills requiring the use of spill kits commonly found in places of work where there exists a potential for loss of containment.

The course is designed to cover the critical elements of spill control and clean up including personal protective equipment and clothing, respiratory protective equipment, control techniques reducing the potential for the escalation of on site incidents.

The main objective of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills to employees who may have to respond to and deal with a chemical spillage in the workplace including their role and what to do when handling a spill.

The course, a blend of theoretical and practical use of chemical spill control equipment including personal protective equipment (PPE), respiratory protective equipment (RPE), booms, mats, absorbents and putty sealant which will allow course Students to respond effectively to a chemical spill within the workplace.

Duration

Standard half day course, however can be customer specific fully dependant upon site operations and specified risks.

Target Group

This course is designed for personnel who may be required to respond to and contain a chemical spillage on site as part of their job role or in cases of emergency.

Who Should Attend

All Senior Managers responsible for spill contingency planning ERT Team Leaders and members of the ERT Team.

Other employees including laboratory technicians, process technicians, chemical stores and handling personnel.

Course Assessments

Students must pass both theoretical and continual practical assessments to complete the course against specific criteria which can incorporate customer / site specific requirements.

Pre Requisites

Nominated course Students should:

  • Have completed an occupational medical examination including physical fitness assessment and deemed medically fit prior to attending the chemical spill control Level 1 course.
  • Be proficient in the English language including reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Posses reasonable English language communication skills.
  • Students must be physically able to carry out the practical skills required to meet the assessment criteria.

Certification

All Students that complete the course will receive a certificate of Completion.
