MANUAL HANDLING Training

COURSE OVERVIEW

Taking into account The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, the course is designed to provide an understanding of the effects of poor manual handling, socially, physically and commercially to employees of all roles.

Students will understand the legal aspects and duties that employers and employees have in respect of manual handling and will appreciate all actions defined as manual handling and gain a thorough knowledge of the assessment required to be carried out prior to a manual handling activity.

Training will cover the use of mechanical aids to assist in manual handling and the approved methods of manually handling loads individually and in groups will be demonstrated and practised.

The course delivered with a blend of theoretical and practical training is based upon sound manual handling and ergonomic safe lifting techniques and effective working practices.

Duration

Standard half day course, however can be customer specific fully dependant upon site operations and specified risks.

Target Group

This course is designed for all employees from all sectors of industry and commerce who may be required to undertake lifting, pushing and moving of loads within the workplace.

Course Assessments

Student knowledge is assessed by means of question and answer session against specific assessment criteria which can incorporate customer / site specific requirements.

Pre Requisites

Nominated course students should have:

  • Been deemed medically fit with no history of back or skeletal injuries.
  • Be proficient in the English language including reading and writing.
  • Posses reasonable English language communication skills.
  • Flat wearing footwear for use during the course.
  • Site issued personal protective equipment including footwear, general purpose gloves and safety helmet*
  • Where above personal protective equipment is not available, general purpose gloves and safety helmet can be issued during the course.

Certification

All Students that complete the course will receive a certificate of Completion.
