PERSONAL FALL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PFPE) PRE USE WEARER INSPECTION Training
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course taking into account the Work at Height Regulations 2005, is designed to provide the core knowledge required by any user of full body harnesses, lanyards, anchor points and associated equipment.
The course covers the current legal obligations regarding the pre use inspections, use of personal fall protection equipment, fall factors, causes and resultant effects of a fall, standards, equipment selection, storage, care and maintenance.
Employers’ obligations include the provisions to ensure that each wearer receive the necessary information, instruction and training.
Personal Fall Protective Equipment is safety critical equipment and it is essential that wearers and users are adequately trained to operate it safely and effectively. This course covers the requirements for Pre Use inspections, documentation as well as working safely at height complying with current industry legislation and best practice.
Course Students completing the course will be able to competently undertake Pre Use inspections on a wide range of equipment including descenders, ascenders, lanyards, full body harnesses, ropes and connectors.
The training carried out by competent person(s) with suitable and sufficient knowledge in rope working, rope rescue along with practical work at height experience.
The course, a blend of theoretical and practical use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment, allows course Students the confidence to undertake thorough Pre use inspections work activities at height in a safe manner.
Standard four hour course, however can be customer specific fully dependant upon site operations and specified equipment used.
Target Group
This course is designed for personnel from diverse industry sectors including Scaffolding, construction, steel erectors, demolition teams, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical oil and gas, tank storage, nuclear, maintenance and water industries.
Who Should Attend
Employees who may be required to wear Personal Fall Protective Equipment including full body harnesses, lanyards for work at height or in cases of emergency.
Course Assessments
Students must pass both theoretical and continual practical assessments to complete the course against specific criteria which can incorporate customer / site specific requirements.
TRAINING COMPONENTS & ELEMENTS
Pre Requisites
Nominated course students should:
- Be proficient in the English language including reading, writing and numeracy.
- Have attended Full Body Harness and lanyard training.
Certification
All Students that complete the course will receive a certificate of Completion.
